About us
Biosciences is one of the world’s foremost centres for research and teaching in the biological sciences and one of the largest Divisions within UCL, undertaking a significant amount of research and teaching. The Division has a diverse portfolio addressing all areas of biology from protein interactions to cell function, organism development, genetics, population studies and the environment. Computational modelling approaches are frequently used alongside experimental research programmes and much of our research crosses traditional boundaries, including the relationship of biodiversity to the health of the planet. Educational activity includes a range of undergraduate programmes, an expanding number of Masters Programmes and a substantial number of postgraduate research students.
We are now recruiting a Lecturer (Teaching) position in Urban Ecology & Ecosystems to support our cross disciplinary teaching at the new UCL East campus.
About the role
The new role will support the BioSciences’ People and Nature Laboratory at UCL East by conducting cross-disciplinary research-led teaching, outreach, and entrepreneurial activities in applied ecological and biodiversity research and/or environmental engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates with interests in the impact of urbanisation on biodiversity and ecosystem health, how urban environments can be engineered to benefit ecosystems and climate resilience, and those investigating how nature-based solutions can be implemented in urban environments.
The People and Nature Lab unites Bioscience staff together with those from the UCL Departments, this unique interdisciplinary environment will tackle challenges posed by biodiversity loss, global ecosystem degradation and climate change, for a more sustainable relationship between people and nature.
Interview Date(s) are scheduled for late June.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site.
