About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new industry project funded by Airbus on optimising next-generation landing gear for commercial aircrafts. You will have the opportunity to develop novel design and manufacturing technology using advanced additive methods and materials. Your role will be to facilitate innovative designs through mixed materials, topology optimisation, and large-scale Wired DED Additive Manufacturing. You will also collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team across structural engineering, material performance, composites, and digital engineering. Based at the Aircraft Integration Centre and Welding and Additive Manufacturing Centre, the project aims to demonstrate cutting-edge technology with a landing gear sub-size demonstrator.
About You
You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in advanced welding processes, additive manufacturing or material science, or similar field. You will also demonstrate relevant experience in process development and material characterisation. Strong knowledge of material properties and excellent communication skills are essential.
