An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Department of Civil Engineering for applicants in Water and Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to teaching and research in Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics, Water and Wastewater Engineering.
We are looking for an individual with a strong passion for student learning and teaching. At the lecturer level, the candidate should demonstrate significant potential to build an internationally recognised research profile. For the Senior Lecturer/Reader position, a distinguished international reputation in research and scholarship is expected. We give a strong emphasis on student engagement, project-oriented learning, and employability. Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong commitments to inspiring teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels are, therefore, vital. Demonstrating the capability to create innovative methods for course delivery, assessment, and curriculum design will be considered a significant advantage.
PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline, along with teaching experience, outstanding publication records, and demonstrable evidence of an internationally recognised research profile, is a prerequisite.
We are striving to develop a strong research group in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering and Management theme and collaborate closely with the two research institutes in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS). For further information please visit the following links:
Industrial experience and professional qualification (CEng) or working towards professional qualification will be highly desirable.
We would particularly like to encourage applications from those returning to academia after a period of absence and women seeking to progress in their academic careers. Aston University is committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter, recognised recently by a prestigious Gold Award to EPS, and we pride ourselves on our vibrant, friendly and supportive working environment and family atmosphere.
