ABOUT THE ROLE 

  • Coordinate a team of English Tutors to contribute to ensuring the best possible student outcomes and student experience.
  • Organise and lead weekly team meetings with teaching staff and deliver induction session to help prepare new teachers. 
  • Organise and lead moderation and standardisation meetings as part of the end of programme assessment process. 
  • Support the management team in recruiting new teaching staff according to Study Group policies and procedures.
  • Teach EAP modules, courses and sessions as required and agreed with line manager dependant on student numbers and workload at various times through the academic year. 
  • Mark assessments and record and report on teaching and assessment activity, including ensuring data is submitted accurately and within deadlines.
  • Ensure all students receive effective feedback on coursework and assessment.
  • Work with Head of English to update and maintain pre-sessional curriculum as required.
  • Liaise with the Head of English to plan and oversee the delivery of teaching and assessment. Ensure English Tutors teaching the programmes, courses and sessions are fully informed of the curriculum content, teaching schedules, assessment modes and deadlines; promote the best possible student outcomes and student experience.
  • Produce and maintain a set of agreed documentation for the Pre-sessional Programme
  • Ensure that the design and delivery of the Pre-sessional Programme are conducted according to Study Group, University of Huddersfield policies.

ABOUT YOU

  • Diploma (DELTA) or equivalent, or Certificate (CELTA) with significant relevant experience in Teaching English as a Foreign Language
  • Qualified to degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 3 and above
  • Current experience in the delivery of academic English
  • Experience of teaching International Students
  • Experience in planning and running complex courses in EAP
  • Experience in coordinating a team to achieve high levels of student academic performance and outcomes against agreed targets.
