About the Post

The School of Technology, Business and Arts (TBA) are looking to appoint a senior lecturer to lead development and teaching on the newly approved BA (Hons) Esports degree. Teaching on the degree starts in September 2025 so the appointee would be expected to play a major role in the validation process and other preparatory elements before taking up teaching and course leadership responsibilities.

About the Team

The broader Technology team in the School is composed of colleagues who teach on Computing and Games courses. Esports will sit as part of the Games portfolio while being supported by colleagues from Business. The Games team is composed of industry veterans, experienced academics, and everything in between so they can provide a range of support where necessary.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming team who work collaboratively to problem solve, with a focus on constantly improving the student experience through industry facing events, extra-curricular activities such as hackathons and game jams amongst other initiatives.

About You

You must have experience in curriculum development or substantial experience in the Esports industry and be prepared to take part in recruitment events to excite and inspire potential students to ensure that they want to join the degree.

Knowledge of the current Esports landscape within the broader games industry is vital. While the role sits within a supportive team, there is an expectation for the role holder to take the initiative and to drive the development of the degree. They will work closely with the Head of Technology and other key stakeholders, so good organisational and communication skills are important.
