The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant/Associate within the James Watt School of Engineering

The successful candidate will contribute to the new InnovateUK project called “UK-GRAFT: The UK Graphene Research and Fabrication Technology Foundry”. This is an ambitious programme towards creating the world's first graphene and 2D-materials foundry in the UK and addressing supply chain needs.

In particular, the University of Glasgow will lead on reliability testing using techniques that have not been proposed before for graphene devices. We will transfer these approaches to partner sites and work with them to establish a new semiconductor foundry service.

The role involves undertake accelerated ageing tests on graphene-based devices, analysing the data, and identifying sources of failure using advanced analytical equipment based across the University such as SEM or FIB.

Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge in at least one of the following areas: transistor or sensor fabrication and testing, accelerated testing of semiconductor devices and materials, or failure analysis.

The postholder will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications, reports, and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

This post is full time (35 hrs. per week), with funding until 31st May 2025.
