Director of People and Organisational Culture

As we look towards our 150^th anniversary in 2031, in 2023 we launched an ambitious strategy – Liverpool 2031 – to build on our distinctive strengths and characteristics, with the aim of developing the confidence and sustained excellence to break into the top-100 ranked universities in the world.

To help us achieve this, we are seeking a Director of People and Organisational Culture to lead our People and Culture Strategy, which forms a key part of the Liverpool 2031 strategy. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of People and Organisational Culture will lead on the development and delivery of a programme of work which will make the University an employer of choice globally, nationally and locally. This is a broad role heading up a directorate of 120 colleagues, encompassing strategic leadership around culture; employee engagement; equality, diversity and inclusion; and staff development, all working towards attracting and retaining the very best people to deliver our aspirations.

We are seeking an outstanding individual to fulfil this key role. You will demonstrate an ability to define and lead strategic people and culture change at levels of scale and complexity comparable to those at the University. You will be able to articulate a clear vision for a contemporary approach to people-oriented leadership in a complex organisation, combining excellent technical knowledge of relevant legislation and policies as they relate to people matters, with a forward-thinking approach to what an effective people function looks like in a world-class institution.
