The Unit is hosted within the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, within the School of Public Health at Imperial College London.

Led by Professor Neil Ferguson, the NIHR-HPRU in Modelling and Health Economics at Imperial College London is a partnership with Public Health England (PHE) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) that combines the complementary strengths of the three largest and most diverse teams of infectious disease modellers in the UK. Its aim is to deliver a step change in research capacity available for health protection modelling.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for the management, coordination, and strategic planning of research activity across four research themes and multiple individual research projects within the themes. The majority of these projects have contributors from both Imperial College, PHE and LSHTM and the post holder’s role is thus pivotal as both facilitator and conduit for all facets of cross-institutional working.

The post holder will have decision taking responsibility over project finances, including both ongoing spend, and resource allocation. Furthermore, they will coordinate, collate, and draft annual progress reporting to the NIHR on research milestones, and work with the Joint Research Office to prepare annual statement of expenditure (ASTOX) statements for financial compliance.

Essential requirements

Applicants should hold a degree and ideally have a management, finance or project management related qualification. We are looking for those with experience and up-to date knowledge of the UK research funding environment who have experience of managing significant budgets and financial reporting. You should have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively with a range of individuals and across a range of roles and organisations.
