Derby College Group (DCG) are recruiting a Procurement & Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our dedicated Finance team, based on site at our Ilkeston Campus.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual eager to build or advance their career in finance within a dynamic and supportive environment. This offers opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public sector procurement and purchase ledger, while making a meaningful contribution to the success of our college community. You will develop highly transferable skills in procurement, supplier management, and financial operations, playing a key role in ensuring efficient supplier payments and cost-effective purchasing decisions that align with the college’s mission. Working closely with experienced managers, you’ll benefit from mentorship and training to support your professional growth and progression. With exposure to procurement strategy, purchase ledger, and supplier relations, no two days will be the same providing both variety and challenge in your work!

About you
You are an enthusiastic individual with a willingness to learn new skills and develop a rewarding career. Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—combined with excellent interpersonal abilities enable you to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Accuracy and attention to detail are key strengths, particularly when entering data into computerised systems, alongside strong analytical and interpretation skills. You thrive in collaborative environments, can prioritise workloads effectively, and work confidently to tight deadlines using your own initiative. Ideally, you will also bring advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting, experience with procurement frameworks, and familiarity with the FE sector or purchase ledger functions.
