Chemistry
International Christian University (ICU) is a private, bilingual Liberal Arts university with an educational mission based on Christian and democratic principles. The Department of Natural Sciences invites applications for a position at Assistant Professor level or above, beginning 1st April or 1st September 2026 in the area of Organic Chemistry.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. In addition to research experience in academia or industry, candidates may already have had some experience of teaching. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research, with an enthusiasm for effective and innovative teaching methods and materials in lecture and laboratory classes. The person appointed will be expected to teach General Education, Introductory and Area Major Chemistry lecture courses, laboratory classes and some more specialised courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels and to show a willingness to contribute fully to the running and organisation of the Chemistry Major, the Natural Sciences Department and the University. The Language of Instruction is English or English and Japanese (but ability in, or willingness to learn, Japanese is highly desirable for teaching and university activities). In addition, a willingness to work within a coherent and interdisciplinary research strategy is highly desirable, as is maintenance of high quality research and publications.
