The Department of Experimental Psychology, within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences (PaLS), offers a world leading research and education environment aimed at understanding the psychological and biological basis of behaviour. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic and supportive undergraduate teaching team.
About the role
We wish to appoint a full-time Lecturer (Teaching) for three years to contribute to undergraduate psychology teaching in the BSc/MSci Psychology. The post-holder will lead on enhancing the current academic skills seminar curriculum in Year 2 of the programme, with a focus on developing innovative opportunities for peer-learning and community building among students. They will manage a large team of postgraduate teaching assistants (PGTAs) to deliver the weekly small-group teaching, including providing regular training for PGTAs in using learning resources, facilitating seminars, and providing constructive feedback on assessments.
The post holder will be expected to spend approximately 85% of their time on teaching, promotional and administrative duties related to the courses, and approximately 15% of their time on scholarship and research to underpin research-based education, including continuing professional development. These percentages are indicative only and may evolve during the contract.
The post is available on a full-time basis (1.0 FTE) starting from 1st September 2025. The successful candidate will need to be able to start in September 2025.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 80% on site.

About you
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Psychology (or obtain this before the start of the post). The successful candidate must have sound knowledge of core undergraduate psychology curricula and experience in teaching psychology to undergraduate students. They should have a strong interest in inclusive pedagogy and evidence-informed teaching practices and have innovative approaches to small-group teaching and student engagement. They should also have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, the ability to take innovative approaches to teaching and academic community building, and the ability to design and deliver lectures and small-group teaching effectively.
