The opportunity
The Sound and Music Programme at London College of Communication is looking to recruit a Course Leader to provide academic leadership and management on the MA Sound Arts course.
As one of our longest-running courses, the MA Sound Arts is designed to support students wanting to further develop their conceptual and contextual understanding of practice and discourse relating to the field of sound arts. The MA Sound Arts is a taught course in which students are engaged in both practical and theoretical work and this position offers an opportunity for you to help develop their creative and critical skills so that they might pursue their personal interests in the field.
The MA Sound Arts is currently delivered over a 15-month period. It is about to transition to a 12-month delivery, and you will help to redesign the existing course to fit this new delivery model, offering an exciting opportunity to tailor the course to your own vision of sound arts.
You will be involved in all areas of learning, teaching and assessment, ensuring appropriate resourcing and managing the day-to-day delivery of the course. Your leadership of the course will cover many areas including curriculum design, assessment and feedback, recruitment and admissions, course monitoring and student satisfaction, advertising and updating the course website, and modifications to the course handbook, among others.
About you
You will be an experienced academic in the broad area of sound arts, who is able to design and deliver an effective and relevant curriculum in this area.
In addition to this, you will need a postgraduate qualification, and ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant subject area (sound arts, composition, fine arts, music, creative music technologies).
With strong academic leadership skills, you will be capable of leading and managing a teaching team in the subject area, overseeing the design and implementation of a vision for sound arts at UAL.
