We are looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive and skilled Research Associate to join the group of Dr Daniel Hodson at the Wellcome MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and the Department of Haematology based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The post-holder will develop and lead a pioneering research project addressing the functional impact of genetic alterations in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). This project will employ new experimental strategies, developed within the Hodson group to modify the genetics of normal human B cells to build "synthetic", experimental models of human lymphoma (Caeser et al. 2019 Nature Communications). Experiments will employ custom-built CRISPR and base editor libraries to recapitulate the genetic alterations found in DLBCL. These are challenging experiments that will employ cutting edge technology. The successful candidate must hold (or be about to obtain) a doctorate in a relevant subject. The candidate should have strong experience of cell culture (including culture and transduction of primary human immune cells) and molecular biology including experience of next generation sequencing and CRISPR screening technologies. They must be able to lead and troubleshoot a complex project and to engage effectively with bioinformatic and other project collaborators. The ability to learn quickly and to work both independently and as part of a team is essential. The post-holder will become a valued member of the Hodson Group and will supervise students and junior researchers. Excellent communication, organizational and proven problem-solving skills are essential. Experience of lymphoma and B cell biology is highly desirable.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD, or an equivalent research doctorate in a relevant subject. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level (Grade 5), which will be amended to Research Associate (Grade 7) once PhD has been awarded.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Dr Hodson (djh1002@cam.ac.uk) directly when considering an application to discuss the project in greater detail.
Fixed term: Funding for this post is available for 36 months.
Applicants must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD.

Please ensure that you upload a covering letter and CV in the Upload section of the online application.
