We are recruiting a high-calibre and collaborative Prize Fellow to strengthen and further develop our world-leading research on membrane science and technology in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Bath. These two-year research fellowships in our priority research areas are part of a scheme intended to fast-track early-stage researchers to a permanent appointment at Bath.
As a University of Bath Prize Fellow, you will have the opportunity to:
You will play a crucial role in advancing our well-established research activities in future-focused, membrane-based technologies for sustainable energy, zero-carbon processes and manufacturing. All our research-active staff work on tackling the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Department benefits from extensive national and international collaboration, excellent research and teaching facilities, and strong links with industry.
You will have a track-record of working in membrane science and technology with a particular focus on energy- and environmentally-focused applications such as sustainable energy production (e.g. electrochemical systems, flow batteries), critical mineral recovery/extraction, and ion separation. We are currently focusing on these research areas and therefore carbon dioxide removal, biomass purification, or water treatment will not be competitive at this time. We welcome both wet lab and in silico activities in your research area. You will be a member of one of the Faculty of Engineering & Design Research Centres, as well as Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change (ISCC). You will have access to students on PhD programmes in our Centres for Doctoral Training.
About you
The Department currently holds the Athena SWAN Silver Award and we value equality and diversity, and promote an inclusive workplace culture for staff and students irrespective of their gender identity, ethnicity or cultural background and seek to achieve true equity of opportunity for all members of our community
For an informal discussion, please contact
Prof. Tina Duren (td222@bath.ac.uk) or Prof. John Chew (jc604@bath.ac.uk).
You will be a kind and culturally aware leader who fosters an environment where every individual is valued and respected, regardless of their background or identity. You will understand that change is inevitable and necessary, actively encouraging your team to adapt and evolve. By promoting a culture of openness and inclusivity, you will create a dynamic and empowered team that can thrive in today's changing world.
