Postdoctoral Research Associate

About the Role

When the integrin alpha-v beta-6 is upregulated by cancers it drives poor survival, associated with increased metastasis, and is recognized as a potential therapeutic target. This MRC-funded research project aims to determine how the integrin alpha-v beat-6 promotes metastasis. We have identified novel data that suggests an unexpected mechanism may be a major player in some cancers. We have an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join us for 12 months.

About You

The post requires a dedicated and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate who will lead this complex study. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant subject. The study requires substantial skills in cell and molecular biology and will require vivo testing of the newly created cell-models. Omics analyses will be required throughout the study so an ability to analyse transcriptional data will be a significant advantage.

The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research, and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care.
