The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media wishes to appoint a full time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Data Analytics.

Faculty / Directorate
The School of Computer Science and Informatics is based within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. It offers a wide range of courses to undergraduates, postgraduates and apprentices in line with emergent demand and the nature of these fast-moving, competitive disciplines. We have a solid track record of ground-breaking research and in REF2021, 2/3 of the School’s research output was considered to be world leading or internationally excellent. Computer Science at DMU is ranked 201-300 worldwide in the Shanghai Ranking and 301-400 in the THES World University Rankings due to the international nature and high relevance of its research. Alongside the university as a whole, we have huge ambitions for the future in terms of our offering to students and the quality and scale of our research.
Role
Staff in the Computer Science area typically belong to the Digital Future research institute, with research topics in areas such as computing & social responsibility, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence. Applicants will be expected to teach modules on the undergraduate and postgraduate Data Analytics courses. The main focus of teaching in this role is teaching the application and development of Enterprise Wide Information systems using a leading Analytics platform such as SAS or equivalent.
Ideal Candidate
You will have expertise and experience in developing and using enterprise wide IT systems. You will be expected to be confident in design and building relational databases to support data marts, have in depth knowledge of statistics and data mining, machine learning applications and the building of predictive models. Knowledge of SAS programming language, Enterprise Miner or equivalent, apache spark, Hadoop, will also be desirable. Ideally you will have experience of teaching in higher education or equivalent industrial experience. You will be expected to lead, develop and redesign modules to update as required. A research and publication profile will be desirable.
