Student Experience Manager Lead

University of Southampton Delhi in partnership with Oxford International

Job Purpose

This role leads delivery for all aspects of Student Experience at the University of Southampton Delhi campus including line management of the team involved in delivery. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to ensure delivery of and excellent student experience through effective, relevant and high-quality services and initiatives. Currently, student experience services include Student Administration & Academic Affairs, Student Engagement & Experience, Student Support, alumni support and community support.

This role supports student wellbeing, engagement, and success, aligning with the university’s mission and regulatory requirements.

Lead the strategic development, planning, and delivery of all high-quality student administration and academic services across the student lifecycle. Contribute to institutional governance through membership of relevant academic committees, working groups, and steering boards.

Oversee the implementation and continuous review of academic policies, regulations, and procedures in collaboration with academic and professional service departments. Ensure systems and processes support academic integrity, curriculum management, and student progression frameworks. Support institutional quality assurance and enhancement initiatives, including preparation for audits, reviews, and accreditations.

Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities

Student Administration and Academic Affairs:

This includes but is not limited to Student Casework (student complaints, appeals etc.), Quality, Standards and Accreditation (includes curriculum and quality assurance), Statutory Returns and Data Quality, Faculty Education and Quality Enhancement, Trans National Education Support, Student systems, Student and Registry Services (Student hubs, Curriculum and Timetabling, Student records, Exams and Awards) and Taught Programme Administration.

Student engagement and experience

This includes but is not limited to the Student Ambassador Scheme, Student Co-Design Panels, Graduation Ceremonies, Welcome and Welcome Back Events and Activities, Student societies, life events and activities, Student experience awards, Events to support student belongingness, Student Staff Liaison Committees, Student Society Support, Working with Faculty to enhance student learning experience, employability modules, intra curricular and extracurricular sessions, sporting activities and special sessions for international students. 

Student support

Management of appropriate services, programmes and activities to support all students’ health and wellbeing.

Anticipatory support for students reporting as specially-abled to level the playing field, to work with specialists to discuss individual needs, provide health and wellness support via counsellor/s. This support may include a set of recommendations setting out individual reasonable adjustments for all aspects of university life, bespoke workshops and specialist study skills support, responsive support to ensure students have a safe experience on campus and are able to manage their health and wellbeing.

  • Eligibility to live and work in India

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge

  • Skill level equivalent to achievement of Degree or basic professional qualification
  • Relevant experience in similar work at a high level in a complex environment
  • Knowledge of HE structures, University processes and regulations.
  • Line management experience including dealing with performance management issues
  • Knowledge and/or experience of UK Higher Education environments (Desirable)
  • Experience of supporting students’ wellbeing, including specific knowledge of mental health issues and support for specially-abled students. (Desirable)

Planning & Organising

  • Experience of independently organising activities, planning work, setting objectives and implementing regular reviews to evaluate progress
  • Experience in efficiently planning, supporting and executing projects in line with strategic and management plans
  • Able to efficiently and systematically organise and store office data and use management information and records appropriately
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise a conflicting workload

Problem Solving & Initiative

  • Ability to provide constructive advice, analyse and interpret complex and/or specialist issues and translate these into efficient management measures and actions with respect to the relevant tasks.
  • Ability to use own initiative and suggest innovative, practical and effective solutions. 

Management & Teamwork

  • Proven experience managing staff, objective setting, motivating staff and providing quality feedback, and developing teams to reach their potential
  • Able to proactively and collaboratively work with other individuals and teams, including external bodies and post holders to achieve outcomes.
  • Excellent time management, working with conflicting deadlines to manage priorities and workload across a team, ability to work independently on specialised projects.
  • Evidence of ability to supervise and oversee requests to ensure completion of deliverables in a timely way. 

Communicating & Influencing

  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately at all times to influence successful delivery of planned objectives.
  • Able to clearly and effectively communicate requirements, processes, recommendations and findings verbally and in writing
  • Ability to show adequate preparation so that presentations are focussed, accurate and meet objectives 

Other Skills

  • Ability to interface with relevant professional service departments in the University, colleagues within the Directorate, external stakeholders, customers and beneficiaries.
  • An essential requirement will be the ability to develop good relationships and networking skills.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills.
