The Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) clinical psychology research group develops, tests, and implements new theory-driven psychological treatments for patients with psychosis.
Currently located in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Experimental Psychology will be moving to the new, purpose-built Life and Mind Building a multidisciplinary research and teaching facility due to open in the summer of 2025.
We are seeking to appoint someone with a strong track record of Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in research to an exciting new role. The role is focused on actively involving people with lived experience of mental health issues in two studies. These are the Wellcome Trust funded Sleeping Better study and the NIHR funded Feeling Safer study. There is scope for the postholder to support other research in the O-CAP research group and the Oxford Department of Psychiatry.
This post is part-time (0.2 FTE, 7.5 hours per week) and is fixed term for one year from May 2025 to April 2026.
The successful candidate would join a large clinical psychology research group comprising clinical psychologists, other research assistants, psychology assistants, peer support workers, project and trial managers, and computer scientists.
An undergraduate degree or appropriate experience in the area of PPI in mental health research is essential, as is an interest in involving people with lived experience in psychosis. An excellent understanding of the issues facing people with lived experience of psychosis, including people who are at ‘high risk’ of developing psychosis is also required. The postholder will need to have a good level of experience of either being involved or involving other people with mental health issues in research. A familiarity with NHS mental health services is also desirable.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application. For further details please refer to the “How to apply” section of the job description.
The closing date for this post is midday on 22 April 2025 and only applications received by this date will be considered.
