About the role

In this role you will contribute to the delivery of a world-class student experience by delivering research-informed teaching across the Aerospace curriculum of the undergraduate and post-graduate Aerospace engineering courses of the School of Engineering. In addition, you will proactively engage with continuous teaching quality improvement to ensure the School Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold is maintained across its range of metrics, including the National Students Survey (NSS).

You will actively support student development through personal tutoring, placement support, and industry engagement. Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will play a key role in shaping curriculum strategy, enhancing pedagogy, and contributing to the wider life of the School and University through administration, mentoring, and outreach. You will also enhance student experience by collaborations with a vibrant community Aerospace regional stakeholders, such as Space Park Leicester and the Leicestershire Aero Club.

About you

You will have a strong academic background with a good first degree in Engineering, or equivalent professional qualifications, and experience. Ideally, you will hold a PhD (or be near completion), or have significant industrial engineering experience.

A background in aircraft design and systems engineering will be an advantage, in view of delivering aircraft architecture, aircraft systems, and aircraft performance curriculum content. 

You will have experience teaching in higher education, with a proven record of excellent student outcomes and a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching practice. Your approach to education will be inclusive, engaging, and responsive to student feedback. You will be a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire, motivate, and support students and colleagues alike.
