Are you a researcher with expertise in high impact weather, regional climate change, or numerical modelling? We seek a talented Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to join the CANARI project (Climate Change in the Arctic-North Atlantic Region and Impacts on the UK; https://canari.ac.uk/) to carry out and analyse simulations of extreme storms impacting the UK in present and future climates.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing simulations of present and future extreme storms forced by boundary conditions from the CANARI Large Ensemble
  • Analysing and evaluating the simulations, with a particular focus on the impact of climate change on heavy precipitation, inland flooding, and extreme winds
  • Collaborating with CANARI partners on regional climate change and high-impact weather

You will have:

  • A PhD (or expect shortly to obtain this) or equivalent research experience in atmospheric science, engineering, physics or mathematics (or a closely related subject).
  • Good programming and data analysis skills
  • The ability to apply your skills and knowledge to the analysis of climate change and high impact weather

The position is available to start immediately, ending on 31st Mar 2027.
