About The Job
Location: Waterside Campus
The University of Northampton is seeking an inspirational Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science. You will join an active and collegiate team, with a great culture of student-focused teaching and high impact research.
The successful applicant will teach, as part of the Environmental Science and Geography team, on specialist modules within our Environmental Science and Biological Sciences degrees and have some input into modules taken by Geographers. The successful applicant will have expertise in and experience of conservation biology and field ecology or habitat management.
Familiarity with RStudio for teaching of undergraduate statistical analysis is essential as this is integral to a second-year research methods module you would be helping deliver, and experience of dissertation supervision and spatial ecology. The ability to contribute to other modules across our programmes would be advantageous as would knowledge and application of field skills such as, but not exclusively, identification and habitat surveys.
Experience of managing modules would be useful, while management of a programme would be essential for senior lecturer post. In addition, experience of being a personal academic tutor would be helpful.
As an academic, you will also be expected to contribute to the research and scholarly output of the subject area and work collegiately with other researchers within the faculty and wider University. Research and scholarship are supported through our research centres, mentor scheme, and twenty-five days scholarly leave allowance.
We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.
