About us

UCL Centre of Medical Imaging (CMI) is a multidisciplinary research team based at the Division of Medicine in University College London. The medical statistics team led by Prof Sue Mallett is a friendly and informal team, collaborating with clinical and methodological researchers at CMI, nationally and internationally. Our primary focus is on exciting applied clinical research in diagnosis and prognosis, including diagnostic clinical trials and developing statistical research methods and evidence to inform clinical guidelines and regulatory approvals.

About the role

This post is for a grade 7 Medical Statistician (Research Fellow) for 1 year in first instance. We are looking for a medical statistician for an exciting opportunity to work with Prof Sue Mallett on statistical research and analysis including diagnostic and prediction studies within across a range of diagnostics and imaging studies in cancer and other conditio ns. Methodological research on monitoring the performance of diagnostic tests alongside the design of diagnostic trials and studies will be a major focus of the post. We work within friendly multi-disciplinary, national and international teams on methodological research, clinical trials and observational studies. The post will include opportunities for methodological research with Prof Sue Mallett, and for further professional development.

About you

Applicants should have an MSc or equivalent in medical statistics and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience in Stata would be an advantage. Applicants will be seeking the challenge of designing diagnostic clinical trials to answer clinical questions that will make a difference in patients' lives. Candidates for this Grade 7 post will be expected to have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role and to have a good understanding of statistical methodology and clinical trials.
