Peterhouse is the oldest College in Cambridge (founded in 1284) and is among the smallest (currently 300 undergraduates; 176 postgraduates; 41 Fellows).
The Accommodation Officer is responsible for the co-ordination of the allocation of student rooms, rent collection, and associated management activities for the College’s operational properties and for some investment properties within the parameters agreed by the Head of Facilities Management. The postholder with work closely with both the Housekeeping Department and the Head of Facilities Management. Activities are to include allocation of rooms for graduate and undergraduate students as well as the monitoring and resolution of accommodation-related issues in co-ordination with Housekeeping and Maintenance.
The post-holder will report to the Head of Facilities Management who will identify the parameters under which the post-holder will be making day-to-day rooms allocation decisions. These parameters will take into account the College’s refurbishment programme, and other College policies and requirements.
A key part of the role will involve using the College’s database (Booker) of rooms and ensuring that it remains up-to-date and accurate at all times. The post-holder will also play a role in the ongoing refinement of the Booker database system. The College accommodation comprises approximately 150 Graduate rooms, approximately 280 Undergraduate room and external properties (approx. 30 units)
The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working with accommodation processes. You will have demonstrable experience of using databases proficiently to carry out business-critical processes, together with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. You will be able to relate to, and communicate with, a wide range of people exceptionally well at all levels both internally (Fellows, staff and students) and externally (alumni, parents and friends of the College). You will have good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook in order to perform all general office tasks.
