The Head of Business is a pivotal leadership position, focusing on driving student engagement and retention across Foundation Year and Levels 4, 5, and 6. With expertise in curriculum development and experience teaching at Level 7, the role-holder will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the College of Esports (CoEs). A background in business or entrepreneurship is essential, complementing their ability to lead and inspire both students and faculty.

Positioned at the heart of CoEs' experiential learning approach, the Head of Business will guide a dynamic team to deliver comprehensive, impactful educational experiences that enable students to thrive and achieve their full potential. This role is ideal for an individual with a proven track record of enhancing student outcomes and building strong industry links to enrich learning delivery.

Job Profile

The role involves overseeing the teaching, curriculum development, and delivery of the Business Management award portfolio across the London campus and satellite locations. This includes the day-to-day management of awards, ensuring alignment with CoEs' mission and industry standards.

The successful candidate will lead the Business Academic Team, fostering innovative and creative teaching practices while maintaining the highest educational and professional standards. Engaging in research or professional practice in the business and enterprise sectors, particularly within Esports, will be integral to the role. Moreover, collaboration with the Executive Dean and Heads of Subject to adapt to industry changes and equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and skills is essential. The role-holder will also contribute to recruitment initiatives, foster partnerships, and support extracurricular activities that enhance student learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage business courses, including curriculum development, quality management, admissions, and assessment processes.
  • Lead and develop the Business Academic Team, promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration and teaching excellence.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, monitoring their progress and maintaining thorough records.
  • Maintain industry links to ensure that curriculum and teaching practices remain relevant and impactful.
  • Contribute to research in business and enterprise within the Esports and wider sports sectors.
  • Organize course-related meetings, examination boards, and course reviews, producing annual monitoring reports to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maximize funding opportunities and implement policies that enhance educational delivery.
  • Actively support personal and professional development for both yourself and your team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A relevant Level 7 qualification and BA in Business, or equivalent professional experience.
  • PhD or higher-level research degree (preferred).
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or willingness to achieve this during employment).
  • Proficiency in curriculum design, innovative teaching, and constructive assessment practices.
  • Strong professional networks that contribute to student employability and enterprise.
  • Ability to plan and manage workloads effectively, fostering inclusive teamwork and problem-solving.
  • A commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and leadership.

Experience

  • Proven experience teaching and assessing business subjects at Levels 4–7 in a Higher Education environment.
  • Expertise in leading and managing academic programs, including staff recruitment, curriculum development, and quality assurance.
  • Evidence of impactful research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice in business and enterprise.
