Head of Building and Technical Services

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Open-ended (permanent) 

The School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh invites applications for a Head of Building and Technical Services 

The Opportunity:

The postholder will manage and develop the School’s estate (buildings and facilities), overseeing its maintenance and managing refurbishment projects, and will lead, manage and develop the School’s technical workshops and technical team providing support for Research and Teaching.  

This post is advertised as full-time on site, working across the Informatics campus with a main office in Appleton Tower.  

The salary for this post is £49,559 to £60,907 per annum. 

Your skills and attributes for success:  

• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, for example electronic or mechanical engineering, computer science, building and facilities management, and significant experience in technical leadership and/or building management, preferably in a university environment.
• Experience in people management.

OR

• Extensive experience in relevant technical leadership and/or building management. 
• Experience in people management

PLUS

• Understanding of the technical requirements of a wide range of research equipment.
• Proven experience of the management of diverse teams.
