Our offering to students in Cornwall is unique. Our law degrees form part of a portfolio of programmes run in collaboration with our Business School, such as LLB Law with Business and BBL Bachelor of Business with Laws. We have plans to expand delivery to new inter-disciplinary programmes. Our pedagogical approach is different from many traditional law schools, with a much stronger focus on experiential learning. This includes significant amounts of small group task-based working and research projects as part of the curriculum.

The role
We are seeking applications from candidates with an academic or professional background to teach on the Law programmes. The focus of the role is to teach on the Corporate Law and Contract Law modules with the ability to teach on other core areas of law being a benefitAn interest in developing pedagogies in legal education will be an asset.

The post will include working as part of a growing team to design and deliver excellent teaching. The position would suit an outstanding teacher who has a passion for education and learning, and for students at or near to the completion of their PhD.

About you
You will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a completed or near-complete PhD or with established experience in legal academia or legal practice demonstrating the core knowledge relating to law in order to teach and support learning on law modules, to develop teaching programmes, and support learning.
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching.
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) for full details of this role.

What we can offer you:

  • Freedom (and the support) to pursue your intellectual interests and to work creatively across disciplines.
  • Support teams that understand the University wide teaching goals and partner with our academics accordingly.
  • An Innovation, Impact and Business directorate that works closely with our academics providing specialist support for external engagement and development.
  • Our Exeter Academic initiative supports high performing academics to achieve their potential and develop their career.
  • A multitude of staff benefits including sector leading benefits around maternity, adoption and shared parental leave.
  • A beautiful campus set in the heart of stunning Cornwall.

We are committed to ensuring reasonable adjustments are available for interviews and workplaces.

Whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented within our working community.
