To work as an active member of the multi-disciplinary medicinal chemistry group within the School of Pharmacy and in collaboration with the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research. Successful candidate will assist in the design, planning, implementation, and delivery of currently funded projects with a particular focus on the development of small molecule protease inhibitors.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Degree in Biomedical Sciences or related subject.
  • Have or be about to obtain* a relevant PhD (must be obtained within 3 months of commencement of employment).
  • Have Relevant research experience to include the following:
    • Experience in design, synthesis and biochemical screening of small molecules.
    • Experience in compound data analysis.
    • Experience in small molecule SAR exploration.
    • Experience in developing protease inhibitors.
    • Experience in cell culture and associated assays including downstream bio-marker analysis.

This post is available for 6 months or until 30 September 2025, whichever is soonest. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
