The College proposes to appoint a 6-hour Stipendiary Lecturer in Mathematics, for the next academic year (1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026). The post is to cover Professor Luc Nguyen’s teaching, while he is on sabbatical leave. Please note that the College is unable to sponsor a work visa in respect of this position.

The Lecturer will be expected to provide 6 hours of undergraduate teaching (including visiting students) per week. Candidates must be able to give tutorials in a range of topics in applied mathematics from the first two years of the BA/MMmaths course, including Geometry, Introductory Calculus, Dynamics, Fourier Series and PDEs, Multivariable Calculus and Computational Mathematics in Prelims, Differential Equations 1 and 2, Integral Transforms and Calculus of Variations in Part A. The appointment will be made on the Senior Tutors’ Committee recommended scale for 6-hour Stipendiary Lecturers (in the range £16,569 to £18,308 per annum) and will be pensionable with the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). The successful candidate will be entitled to a research allowance at the rate of £925 per annum.

The Lecturer will also be entitled to lunch and dinner at the Common Table throughout the period of the appointment whenever the College Kitchen is open and the use of a bookable teaching room.

Applicants must have an excellent undergraduate degree in Mathematics and either have, or be working towards, a doctorate in Mathematics. Teaching experience and an understanding of the Oxford tutorial system is essential.
