Programme Co-Head, MSc/MArch Sustainable Environmental Design

Hours of work: Part Time; 3 days per week / 0.6 FTE

The AA campus is located in historic 18th century Bedford Square in London with a 350 acre woodland setting in Hooke Park in Dorset. The AA has an annual revenue of £18 million, a student body of 1000 students, 200 faculty, 90 staff, 6,500 members and thousands of visitors that come to engage with the most relevant debates in architecture today.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an individual with a strong record of teaching, practice and impactful research in the area of sustainable architectural design. The candidate will be an inspirational leader with a passionate for teaching and learning, with expertise in building physics and a proven track record of excellence in architectural design.

The Programme Co-Head is an academic role that involves working alongside the current Programme Head to co-lead the management, delivery, teaching, assessment and staffing on both the 12-month MSc and the 16-month MArch Sustainable Environmental Design programmes at the Architectural Association.

The role requires an individual with an active understanding and involvement in the landscape of sustainable architectural design, both in academia and in professional practice, and will be expected to remain at the forefront of the field whilst in post.

The candidate will have experience in innovative curriculum design and development. The role requires the delivery of high-quality, tailored, student-centred teaching, as well as providing pastoral support. The candidate will also have excellent communication skills and transparency in their interaction with colleagues as well as students.

The successful candidate will be expected to take up appointment on 1 st August 2025.
