Senior Lecturer in Computing

Salary: £39,347 - £45,585 per annum plus £4,000 London Weighting Allowance per annum

THE ROLE

The Senior Lecturer in Computing will be located within the Institute of Inner-City Learning. The post-holder will be under the line management of the Academic Director and will be expected to contribute to programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level across the discipline and wider Institute.

The post holder will be expected to undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, individually or within a team, to support the Campus and to enhance the profile of the Institute and wider University. The postholder will also be required to develop internal and external collaborative relationships and to contribute to programme developments, teaching and assessment related (but not exclusively) to Computing and subject areas within Computing including Networking, Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking, Enterprise Network Security and Digital Forensics. They may be required to lead on modules and programmes.

Main duties will include:

  • Offer teaching and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level of study
  • Offer teaching in a variety of learning settings, from seminar and small group tutorials, to large lectures, workshops or placements, using appropriate and engaging teaching styles
  • Design and develop teaching materials, assessment methods and criteria, for individual modules or modules within a specific subject area, with a clear awareness and understanding of relevant quality assurance requirements
  • Supervise the work of students in a timely, professional and supportive manner, providing necessary advice
  • Offer appropriate advice, feedback, support, and encouragement to students, in both an academic and personal tutor role, to ensure a high-quality student experience
  • Undertake relevant scholarly and research activity
  • Engage in continuing professional development and enhancement

REQUIREMENTS

You should have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in teaching, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK HE sector
  • Experience in the design and development of module content
  • Experience of leading modules/programmes
  • Evidence of good organisational and personal management skills
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
  • IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources
  • Evidence of the ability to balance competing pressures of teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Annual leave entitlement is 35 days’, plus 8 bank holidays and 4 University closure days
