We are delighted to have been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, demonstrating that we are not only one of the best universities in the United Kingdom, but one of the best universities for the world. Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lifelong Learning Tutor – Introductory Calculus for Science (Study Abroad) to work within the University.

The successful candidate will assist the Widening Participation & Lifelong Learning (WP&LLL) team in taking forward the portfolio of Access and / or Open Learning courses. They will effectively and efficiently undertake a range of duties associated with teaching, assessment and associated administration to contribute to meeting learning and teaching objectives in Lifelong Learning.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our team in Lifelong Learning to help deliver introductory calculus classes to study abroad students. The classes are taught in-person on the University campus during the day and include one 2-hour lecture and two, 2-hour tutorial groups. Classes run over the 11 weeks of the University's semester 1, which begins late September. The course introduces students to the mathematical field of calculus, developing students' mathematical skills and understanding as necessary for university level 1 science courses, and preparing the foundation for further study in integral and multivariable calculus. One hour of preparation/administration time is paid for every hour of teaching time, with additional payment hours for marking assessments and office hours.  Additional online teaching hours may also be available to the successful candidate.
