About Forward College

FORWARD COLLEGE is a pan-European Higher Education Institution (Lisbon, Paris, Berlin)  that promotes a relational pedagogy (100% small group teaching and 1:1 tutoring). As an academic partner of the University of London (LSE and King’s College), we teach Bachelor’s degrees, including a Bachelor's in psychology directed by King’s College, to bright students who wish to achieve academic excellence but also nurture other forms of intelligence (social, emotional, and practical). As a degree-awarding institution, we also teach our own programs (See here

Our approach reflects this commitment:

  • Strong focus on high quality teaching. All of our teaching is small classes with an average of 15 students per class.
  • We employ a ‘flipped classroom’ approach
  • Our students embark on a multi-city program as part of their studies (‘3 years – 3 cities’), spending a year each in Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin.
  • Approximately 30% of faculty time is dedicated to research, pedagogical development, or other career development activities

This is a tenure track appointment leading to a permanent position upon successful completion of tenure, usually after 24 months.

Who we are looking for

You should have a passion for teaching and engaging students, be curious about new ways of teaching, have demonstrable excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to interact well with staff and contribute to the College’s activities.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in Psychology from a top-tier University
  • A passion for teaching, pedagogical innovation, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students
  • A proven ability to teach Year 1 courses of our Bachelor's in Psychology program
  • A track record in research
  • Demonstrable workplace citizenship
  • An appetite for teaching innovation and connecting subject-specific expertise to real-world problems
  • An excellent level of English
  • Experience in supervising bachelor's theses is desirable
