About us
The Slade School of Fine Art is an art school where staff and students approach contemporary art practice, and the history and theories that inform it through experimentation, imagination and research-oriented practice.
In 2025, the Slade is launching a new BA Art and Technology programme, which is an interdisciplinary degree focused on the interconnections between art practice and a range of new and disruptive technologies. It will also open a new studio space at UCL East to support students, academic staff and researchers to explore the intersection of art, technology and society through critical enquiry and studio practice.
About the role
This is an academic position and the post holder will be primarily based at UCL East to support the Art and Technology programme.
Teaching responsibilities primarily involve leading on the delivery of history and theory modules for the Art and Technology BA, supervision of dissertations and where possible, contributing to teaching on the BA and MA in Fine Art.
Working Pattern:
This is a 0.5 FTE role which equates to 2.5 days per week. As this is a new programme and we are working with the UCL East Campus team on timetabling and facilities, the working days will be confirmed in conversation with the Director of Studies and in collaboration with the timetabling team.
Right to Work Eligibility
Please note, we will not be able to consider any candidates who require sponsorship, so all those applying must already have unrestricted right to work in the UK. Any applicants without right to work cannot be considered in the recruitment for this role.

The candidate will have experience of teaching in higher education and creating inclusive and equitable learning environments, including the decolonisation of scholarship and practice, and the promotion of diversity within art and technology. The candidate must also have a research profile with outputs of suitable quality for submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
Skills and Abilities:
The candidate will be skilled at teaching in a variety of group and one-to-one modes including lectures, seminars and tutorials and have the ability to respond to students' wellbeing and pastoral needs and have an approachable and flexible way of working with students with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds.
