Modern Languages (ML) is a popular and well-established subject in the PGCE Secondary portfolio. In this context, the Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an inspirational and excellent specialist in Modern Languages, ideally including German, if possible, with a strong commitment to developing a centre of excellence at the University on a 0.5 fixed term contract for 2 years in the first instance.

The successful applicant will work closely with the ML Subject Lead to ensure an excellent trainee teacher experience and will be responsible for undertaking some teaching and visiting trainees in our partner schools. The role will involve working with mentors to develop the trainees’ skills and expertise in evidence-informed practice and becoming expert practitioners. The role will include quality assurance of mentoring and the practice-based experience for our trainees in line with the University procedures and expectations.

The successful applicant will show a clear commitment to practice-based research and should demonstrate some evidence of developing their profile in this particular aspect of academic work.
