SUMMARY OF ROLE: 

Are you an experienced academic leader with a passion for student-centred learning and programme excellence? London College of Contemporary Music (LCCM) is seeking an Associate Dean - Programmes to lead and oversee the development and delivery of our higher education programmes. This is a key leadership role responsible for enhancing student experience, improving retention and attainment, and ensuring academic excellence across the College’s portfolio. 

As the Associate Dean - Programmes, you will provide strategic leadership for LCCM’s academic programmes, ensuring they align with the College’s student-focused vision and industry expectations. You will work closely with Programme Leaders and the Academic Dean to enhance pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment, while driving improvements in student engagement and outcomes. 

Your role will involve collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including partner institutions, industry professionals, and regulatory bodies, to maintain the highest standards of teaching and learning. You will also contribute to resource planning, staff development, and strategic initiatives that support institutional growth. 

Your main responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Lead and manage LCCM’s higher education programmes, ensuring alignment with academic and strategic priorities.
  • Drive student engagement and experience strategies to enhance learning outcomes and career readiness.
  • Work closely with Programme Leaders to oversee curriculum delivery, assessment, and quality assurance.
  • Manage resource planning, including staff recruitment, workload allocation, and facilities management.
  • Oversee student interviews, academic misconduct investigations, and student recruitment processes.
  • Maintain high academic standards through teaching observations, feedback, and staff development initiatives.
  • Support the integration of innovative learning technologies and contemporary teaching methodologies.
  • Engage in professional development and research, ensuring teaching practices remain at the forefront of higher education trends.
  • Collaborate with GUS Group partners to strengthen academic and industry relationships.
  • Deputise for the Academic Dean as required, providing strategic input on academic governance and institutional growth. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • A higher degree in a relevant subject area or in higher education teaching.
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent professional recognition).
  • Experience in evaluating and enhancing higher education teaching.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in improving teaching and assessment standards.
  • Strong track record of developing academic programmes and fostering collaboration among faculty members. 

Essential Skills & Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of Office for Students (OfS) conditions of registration related to academic quality and student outcomes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive change and achieve strategic goals.
  • Ideally high levels of energy, resilience, and self-motivation.
  • A positive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of widening participation and its role in student success.
