Applications are invited from experts in modellings/simulations to join an academic project in advancing the reliability and longevity of power distribution networks. This role is critical in the transition to high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, where the design, optimisation, and material selection for support insulators in gas-insulated switchgears (GIS) are becoming increasingly important. This post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic researcher to join our team, focusing on the simulation and characterisation of solid dielectrics and their interfacial behaviour with gas dielectrics. This full-time post is available as soon as possible and is fixed-term for 24 months. The appointed post holder will be responsible to Dr Lujia (Tony) Chen and will play a key role in simulating and characterising solid dielectrics and their interfacial behaviour with gas dielectrics and using modelling to investigate breakdown mechanisms inside solid dielectrics and elucidating gas-solid interactions during the electrical treeing process.
