About the Role:
The Department of Economics invites applications for two posts to be appointed as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Reader in Economics. The Department is looking to recruit an outstanding economist with an excellent record in research, teaching and academic citizenship who
will contribute to the mission of the Department.
The candidate will have demonstrable capacity to improve the academic standing of the University by carrying out and publishing research of the highest quality and by lecturing and tutoring students to a high academic standard. The candidate is also expected to demonstrate capability in providing academic leadership up to the senior level (for a Reader) and ability to receive external funding for research and knowledge exchange activities (for a Senior Lecturer and Reader).
About the Department:
The SOAS Economics Department has a mission to address the most urgent issues of our times. Today these include the rampant environmental catastrophe, historic levels of inequality, health, economic and social crises, etc. The Department exercises leadership internationally in political economy, development and heterodox economics, and does so by bringing a unique regional lens to bear on its analysis. Research in the Department proceeds along a set of themes including institutions and governance, money and finance; nutrition, health and development; informal economies; labour markets and welfare institutions poverty and inequality, international financial institutions; feminist political economy and ecological macroeconomics.
