About the Role
The Head of School leads the academic and financial performance of the School supporting all of its colleagues in meeting the strategic aims of the Faculty and of Queen Mary. This will include further enhancing the School’s world class research activity, maintaining and developing its excellent teaching and student experience, continuing to foster the School’s key stakeholder relationships and growing its international reputation and links.
This role is for a five year term with the potential of a second term, then the role holder will remain as a substantive academic postholder
The Head of School reports to Vice-Principal & Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science & Engineering. The appointee will form close working relationships with other Heads of School in the Faculty and will play a key role as a member of the Faculty Executive. The Head of School will work with members of the professional services, at school, faculty and university level, to represent the School's interests and ensure compliance with Queen Mary regulations.
About You
Applications are invited from Professorial level candidates with exceptional records of research in one or more area of Biochemistry, Biology or Psychology. All candidates should show evidence of strategic vision, genuine commitment to maintaining and developing a collegial learning community and proven strengths in academic leadership and management.
About the School
One of five schools within the Faculty of Science & Engineering, the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences has a strong research output and demanding educational standards for its students, but all members benefit from a high level of academic and social integration.
