Location: Remote online delivery

Study Group Digital Learning delivers a range of student-focused online programmes, and we are seeking English tutors passionate about delivering engaging lessons to a diverse mix of students. We currently have a number of vacancies for Digital English tutors to deliver online English Language and English for Academic Purposes courses of various lengths.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Plan appropriate, effective and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity
  • Plan teaching sessions which accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources and promote engagement in online lessons
  • Be responsible for the creating and updating teaching materials
  • Make effective use of the VLE to promote student engagement with asynchronous materials in a way appropriate to the course
  • Apply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students
  • Use a variety of methods to check learning in lessons (formative assessment)
  • Engage with our online assessment platforms - for assessment, marking and training.
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to students to enable them to improve and achieve the aims of the course
  • Prepare students for summative assessment whether for an exam, course work or assignments etc.
  • Engage in standardisation and moderation of assessment materials and student work
  • Contribute to maintaining up to date and accurate records of student attendance and progress
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and application to their studies by individual conversations with students, referrals to personal tutors or where appropriate, senior management.
  • Be available to offer additional support to students as required (e.g. workshops, booster and revision classes)
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students in your care, referring to relevant staff where appropriate.
  • Be aware of and comply with all SGDL quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material, programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews
  • Undertake reflection and self-evaluation of personal teaching practice and continuing professional development
  • operate on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the SGDL students who are in a variety of time zonesT

ABOUT YOU

  • Certificate in teaching English as a Foreign Language (essential)
  • Strong IT skills and confidence (essential)
  • Digital delivery (desirable)
  • Experience of teaching English to students from IELTS band 4 -8 (essential)
  • Current experience in the delivery of English language or English for academic purposes (essential)
  • Experience in teaching International Students (including monolingual groups) (essential)
