The University of West of Scotland have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health professional to join our team as an Occupational Health Practitioner.

As the subject matter expert, you will lead a high-quality, innovative, and cost-effective advisory service for university staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation while promoting wellbeing and reducing the risk and impact of occupational ill health.

The successful candidate will be a reactive and resourceful individual that uses their initiative when planning and developing the University’s occupational health strategy and policy, ensuring best practice and that all plans are in line with the People and Well-Being departments operational plan.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Specialist Practitioner Degree in Occupational Health or equivalent
  • Membership of appropriate professional institution(s)
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
  • Experience of managing an OH service in a large organisation with demonstrable and significant experience in Occupational Health
  • The ability to identify the need for the development of occupational health services and initiating, overseeing and auditing appropriate operating health surveillance programmes.
  • A working knowledge of OH policy development and implementation
  • Exposure to initiating and introducing in partnership with Human Resources streamlined OH services
  • Familiarity with NHS practices.
