The School of Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art is seeking to appoint an Academic Development Lead at an exciting time in its evolution. We are expanding our provision by developing new art and interdisciplinary programmes while strengthening our established programmes at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.

Working closely with the Head of School, senior leadership, and the wider school community, you will lead academic development, quality enhancement, and assurance processes within the School of Fine Art. This role also has a cross-GSA remit, requiring close collaboration with Academic Development Leads from other schools and central teams to ensure a cohesive approach to academic development across the institution.

You will take a leading role in curriculum development across all programmes, ensuring innovation in learning and teaching methods and fostering student engagement as active participants in their education. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to decentralised approaches to art and education. We seek a leader capable of promoting inclusive practices, engaging our internationally diverse cohort of students in challenging dominant Western paradigms. This will be a feature of your approach to education and, potentially, your research. You will be able to provide evidence of leading innovative and inclusive educational practices.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Substantial experience in academic management and administration within Higher Education, ideally at course, cohort, or programme level.
  • A research and/or practice profile as an artist, curator, or writer, able to contribute to the School’s research culture.
  • Experience of curriculum development within fine art or a related field
  • A Masters, MPhil or PhD level qualification in Art & Design, or related field.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of fine art education within a dynamic and forward-thinking institution.
