Director of Research in Neuroradiology (Part Time, Fixed Term)

The Department of Radiology is an internationally competitive department undertaking innovative research in medical imaging.

This role is part-time 0.25 FTE (10 hours per week) and fixed term for 3 years.

It consists of a multidisciplinary team of dedicated academic radiologists and imaging scientists, with active doctoral and post-doctoral research training programmes. The department undertakes world-leading research in several areas including Metabolic Imaging, MRI, PET, and image analysis.

The Department benefits from excellent research platforms and clinical expertise across the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, as well as extensive imaging expertise in the Cavendish Laboratory, Engineering, Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, and in Astronomy.

The Department is recruiting a Director of Research in Neuroradiology to strengthen the existing expertise across the Biomedical Campus and the University in neuroimaging. The successful applicant will be supported in building a portfolio of clinical imaging research across a range of neurological diseases, to improve patient outcomes. The candidate will be encouraged to collaborate widely with existing researchers on campus working in brain and related research, including within our own Department, the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre; the Department of Psychiatry; and the Department of Oncology and the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre.

The applicant will be clinically qualified, ideally with specialty training in Neuroradiology, who has undertaken significant research in this area and is actively working in a clinical imaging environment. The appointee will have a strong track record in this area and will have a significant reputation as a leader in the field. It is expected that the appointee will undertake innovative research for patient benefit.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
