We are inviting applications for the role of Research Assistant to join a research team based in the School of Medicine.You will be part of a project team examining risks of cardiovascular events in women taking menopausal hormone therapy, funded by the NIHR School for Primary Care Research.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with large clinical research databases and address health issues that are of increasing importance and concern to patients. 

You will be responsible for preparing the dataset and carrying out statistical analysis to determine which uses of the therapy in terms of types, durations, doses are associated with increased or decreased risks. As well as preparing a paper for publication in a peer-reviewed medical journal, you will lead other dissemination activities, such as publicising the findings to professional groups, and relevant groups in the general population.    

We are seeking someone who has in depth understanding of research methodology and epidemiological methods and is able to carry out statistical analyses using Stata or R, interpret findings and present results. You should have experience of dealing with large datasets, and be able to communicate clearly to a variety of audiences. 

You will join the Centre for Academic Primary Care’s Primary Care Epidemiology group within the Lifespan and Population Health academic unit.We are a team using large clinical datasets for research on a variety of health issues, including mental health, and safety of prescribed medications. We have strong links to Public and Patient Involvement groups, ensuring that the work we do is relevant and important to the people it affects.  The project team involves colleagues across the University of Nottingham, including clinicians, pharmacists and public contributors.
