As a mission-driven, independent charity, UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) has been at the forefront of connecting individuals to higher education since 1993. UCAS’ vision is that all students who wish to benefit from higher education, do.
By assisting over 750,000 applicants to explore more than 29,500 undergraduate courses at over 350 universities and colleges, and enabling them to make ambitious choices, UCAS generates an annual income of around £55m and facilitates £3.3 billion in economic value each year. UCAS transforms students' lives, by supporting them to make the right choices about their post-secondary education and enabling them to reach their full potential, while offering significant benefit to wider social mobility.
UCAS is seeking to appoint a Trustee to join its Board. There is also scope for this Trustee to sit as a Director of UCAS Media, the commercial subsidiary of the charity, which gift aids income back to the charity to support a range of initiatives, including the removal of the application fee for students in receipt of free school meals. The Trustees provide strategic guidance and scrutiny and are accountable for ensuring that UCAS’ strategy demonstrably meets its charitable objectives and delivers public benefit.
UCAS is seeking an outstanding individual with professional expertise gained, at Board-level, in the technology and digital domains. In particular, experience of taking organisations on a journey of digital transformation, underpinned by the requisite intellectual capacity, commercial acumen, and strategic expertise to add genuine value as a non-executive is desirable.
Above all, it is essential that the new Trustee is committed to UCAS’ core values and able to work collaboratively with a talented executive team for the benefit of all our communities.
Applications are invited at your earliest convenience, and in any event by no later than close of business on Friday 4th April.
