We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to join us as Vice Provost for Research and Innovation. This pivotal role will drive research excellence, foster innovation, and strengthen NU's global academic standing, building on the University’s achievements and helping to secure global recognition for our world-class research.

Reporting to the Provost, you will lead the development and implementation of NU's research and innovation strategy, enhance research capacity and productivity, and attract outstanding researchers to our university.

• ¡ The role: Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing research and innovation strategies in line with NU's institutional goals, enhancing research capacity, productivity, and quality across the university, and attracting and retaining internationally competitive research-active academics. You will also be responsible for securing substantial increases in research grant and contract funding, fostering interdisciplinary research efforts addressing global challenges, maintaining and renewing research infrastructure, and expanding relationships with national and international funding bodies. Additionally, you will promote the commercialization of research outputs and support innovation initiatives, enhance doctoral programs, and increase doctoral student intakes. Representing NU at major conferences and on prestigious funding, review, and policy bodies will also be a key part of your role.
• ¡ The ideal candidate: NU is seeking a distinguished researcher with a proven track record in leadership and a substantial publication and citation record. Experience in senior research leadership roles at leading research-intensive universities or significant research organizations is essential. You should have a record of attracting research grants and contracts, the ability to devise and implement strategies to improve research performance, and evidence of external research leadership and collaboration with governmental, industry and the public sector. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to represent NU at the highest levels are also required. A commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and nurturing talent is essential.
