About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Post-doctoral Research Associate to join our Sociology Department at Goldsmiths University of London to work on the Horizon Europe-funded (RIA Research and Innovation Action) You-DARE (Debunking the Gendered Arguments of Far-Right Extremism) project (as part of the UK-based team). This role offers an outstanding opportunity to contribute to a major project exploring the gender discourses and practices of far-right youth groups and leaders, and their normalisation in the mainstream, across 8 European countries.

About the Candidate

The Post-doctoral Research Associate is expected to have a PhD in a social scientific discipline (e.g., Sociology; Politics & IR; Anthropology; etc) and to be trained in social scientific methods of qualitative and quantitative research. You will be a key part of a broader project team involving 5 Universities, playing a pivotal role in data collection, analysis and the production of research and knowledge exchange outputs. Together we will work to understand how far-right youth ideas inform public/political debates and impact on democracy, and to generate tools and policy recommendations minimising the appeal of such ideas. In particular, you will collect and analyse data on various aspects of far-right youth and gender in the UK (including through interviews and social media analysis), and aid Dr. Farris in coordinating the selection and analysis of policy debates centered on gender in each of the 8 case studies under focus. The main working language will be English.

Benefits

We have generous benefits – an agile working environment, 28 days’ annual leave plus 6 paid closure days (4 at Christmas and 2 at Easter) plus all Bank Holidays, great transport links, a defined benefit pension scheme, support for professional development and a broad range of wellbeing initiatives such as staff choir, running club and creative writing classes.

Goldsmiths, University of London is passionate about advancing equality and celebrating diversity.
