Christ Church invites applications for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Mathematics.
This is a temporary, fixed-term position to fulfil a current teaching need arising from Professor Breward’s teaching buyout during the academic years 2025/6 and 2026/7, therefore, the appointment carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at Christ Church.
The Lecturer will be expected to deliver six hours of high-quality tutorial teaching per week, averaged over the two remaining eight-week terms of the academic year and weighted in accordance with the Senior Tutors’ Committee recommendations, to undergraduates on the Mathematics and Joint Schools degrees.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach topics including First Year (Prelims) Calculus, Dynamics, Geometry, and Second Year (Part A) Quantum Theory, Linear Algebra, Probability, Differential Equations, and some second-year optional subjects in applied mathematics, as well as contributing to the Intercollegiate Class Scheme (Parts B and C) on Christ Church’s behalf. The Lecturer will also coordinate, set and mark College term exams (Collections), assist with the general administration of the teaching of Mathematics at Christ Church, and participate in the undergraduate admissions exercise, including reading of UCAS forms, marking of written work, and conducting interviews.
This post is offered on a two-year fixed-term temporary basis with a salary of £16,569 - £18,308 (current rates) per annum, according to qualifications and experience.
