About the role… 

In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain laboratory operations and experimental techniques. Your responsibilities will include independently designing and establishing antibody-based assays, such as immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and mass cytometry, and integrating them with automation infrastructure to create scalable and reproducible pipelines for quantifying the signalling responses of cell lines and organoids to perturbations with small molecule and growth factors. You will collaborate with team members to design and execute experiments, while also overseeing lab operations and providing training to other lab members.

What you will be doing… 

As an SLRS at the Crick, you will:  

  • Introducing, maintaining and updating lab protocols and lab techniques.
  • Designing and conducting experimental activities.
  • Training of lab members in techniques.
  • Involvement in day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including (but not limited to) maintenance of safety standards, restocking and purchasing, and general organisation.
  • Continue professional development through maintaining awareness of developments in the wider research communities.
  • Help to develop others by mentoring and sharing expertise and experience

About you

You will bring: 

  • Proficiency in molecular assay development, optimization and validation
  • Demonstrated ability to design, plan, and execute experiments independently.
  • Hands-on experience in culturing and manipulating cell lines.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret experimental results and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor team members in laboratory techniques and protocols.
