Are you passionate about Engineering and Automation and interested in shaping the future of agricultural automation and data visualisation and analytics? We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our innovative SoilSensor project team, perfect for a technically minded person looking to gain hands-on experience in sensors for agricultural.

The Project

The CERES LinCam funded project SoilSensor, aims to develop commercial opportunities for a hand-held, user-friendly sensor for measurement of key plant nutrients. The project has a chemistry and an engineering strand working in unison in developing a sensor that will be fit-for-purpose and eventually result in a spin out.

The Role

Working alongside Dr Faiz Iqbal and Dr Aleksandar Radu and colleagues from SoilSensor team, you'll:

  • Support trials of sensor data acquisition in agricultural environments
  • Develop, Maintain and test software systems for sensor data acquisition and visualisation
  • Document findings and contribute to research outputs
  • Participate in a dynamic research environment

What We're Looking For

  • First Degree with preferred master’s graduate with Engineering background and experience of sensor integration and dashboard development
  • Programming skills in C++/Python
  • Experience with Automation related sensor and controller based customised projects
  • Interest in agricultural automation systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

This is a particularly excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain practical experience in sensor and automation aspects for data gathering and visualisation in an agricultural environment. You'll be part of an ambitious team working on real-world solutions that are shaping the future of Soil.
