Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Britain’s longest established and world-famous conservatoire for filmmakers. The school, now approaching its 70th anniversary, is based in Covent Garden in the heart of London. LFS alumni include some legendary lighting camera people (Roger Pratt, Tak Fujimoto) as well as celebrated directors (Mike Leigh), and actors (Danny Huston), and many producers and executives across the industry.  

The LFS is one of only two film schools in the UK to have received ‘world leading’ institution status and funding from the Office for Students. 

As Senior Lecturer for Production Design you will be responsible for teaching, learning support, assessing and contributing to curriculum development. The post-holder will also be a personal tutor and will participate in the student recruitment process. You will need to maintain your professional practice contacts and knowledge and undertake academic administration tasks, to deliver teaching and in support of department and cross department working, including liaising with colleagues in Student Registry and Finance.

The successful candidate will hold specialist knowledge as a location and studio Production Designer/Art Director and Set Decorator for studio sets and locations. Some experience of teaching at tertiary level in a relevant academic area is required. Extensive industry professional practice is essential.

You will need excellent interpersonal skills as you’ll be working closely with a diverse range of students as well as colleagues from different departments across London Film School. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, nurturing student creativity and developing their skills to become talented storytellers.
